Hartzell House Bed & Breakfast is a casually luxurious 7000-square-foot B&B in Addison, PA. It is a handsome example of Carpenter Gothic Victorian fused seamlessly with Craftsman style. Our lodging accommodations are comfortably appointed throughout with furnishings chosen to pamper and please our discerning guests. In the historic West Wing, originally built by Judson Hartzell c1870, the original structure has been carefully renovated and expanded to retain the flavor of the era, while enhancing the measure of technical necessity and environmental comfort.
The original 1870’s renovated Victorian construction; downstairs you will find the spacious parlor is well appointed with plush upholstered seating, unique antiques, original hardwood floors and moldings and tasteful artwork and ceramics. A peaceful room in which to enjoy the company of friends or relax in quiet contemplation by the fireside.Rounding out this wing is the library, a private dining room, and a kitchenette.
The West Wing holds three restful guest rooms, all outfitted with comfortable, high-quality beds and fine linens. These rooms are uniquely decorated with specialty finishes, original art, and antiques. The Traveler’s Room has a private in-room bath, and the Teacher’s and Trapper’s have in-room sinks and share a spacious, detached hall bath for folks traveling together. We supply plush robes and natural and organic toiletries for your convenience.
The handicap accessible East Wing, built in 2005, has a distinct flair of its own. While blending quite nicely with the original 1870 structure, it gives a nod to the Craftsman era with its spacious Bungalow inspired interiors. The main level common area has built-in bookcases, games, puzzles, DVDs and comfy sofas. A large streaming enabled HDTV with a Blu-Ray player, and a tall, pub-style table that waits to accommodate a spirited game of skill or chance. On this level you will find a small kitchenette with a sink, refrigerator, and microwave for our guests convenience.
The East Wing is home to three roomy guest suites, all with memory foam mattresses, private full baths, streaming enabled HDTVs and en suite seating areas. These comfortable rooms are fully equipped with amenities designed to delight the most particular traveler. Our street-level Patriot’s Suite is quite large and fully handicap accessible, with a spacious, barrier-free shower. Upstairs, the Artist and Angler suites share an ample landing. Both of these spacious rooms have private baths, small refrigerators and individual heating and cooling controls. Don’t be deceived by the angled 8′ ceilings, the rooms were intentionally designed that way, and offer enough headroom for our taller-than-average guests!
The East Wing connects to the great room through our airy sunroom (a winter jungle, as we shelter our potted Tropicals and a twelve-foot tall Ficus tree here during the ski season), a perfect spot to sit and read, or wander out onto the deck that overlooks our backyard spaces or access our artful courtyard, a perfect spot to dine from late Spring through Autumn.
